Our 2022 Exhibition

Expo 2022 Logo

Our 37th Exhibition

was held on
Saturday & Sunday
15th/16th October 2022

at the
Uckfield Civic Centre
Civic Approach, Uckfield
East Sussex

The 2022 exhibition was another great success with seventeen layouts attending, one of which was exhibited under construction. There were thirteen diverse scale/gauge combinations on show including those in 0, 0-16.5, On30, 5.5mm/ft scale, S, P4, EM, 00, 00-9, H0, 3mm/ft finescale, British N and 2mm/ft finescale. As always, something for everyone!

Layouts traveled from as far away as Avon, Devon, East Yorkshire, Essex, Hampshire, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, West Sussex, West Yorkshire and Wiltshire portraying British and American broad, standard and narrow gauge prototypes.

Twenty members of the trade, including specialist manufacturers, had a presence at the show. This year we welcomed several new members of the trade to the exhibition; Green Scene, Light Railway Stores, NuCast/Branchlines and Pete Goss Figures. We also welcomed our first mainstream manufacturer, Rapido Trains UK, who attended with a promotional stand bringing along many of their pre production models for our visitors to see and ask questions about.

There was a display by the model engineers from the Bentley Miniature Railway as well as popular demonstration stands manned by guests Gordon & Maggie Gravett (French project), Jerry & Kim Clifford (2mm/ft modelling) and Roger Sawyer (soldering). We also hosted The Scalefour Society for the first time, who attended with a small publicity and demonstration stand.

The show was very successful, with many comments being received as to the high quality of the exhibits, the variety of trade goods on offer and the general friendliness of those taking part.

Throughout the weekend the visiting public was asked what layout they thought was the "Best in Show". The 4mm/ft scale 16.5mm gauge (00) industrial brewery layout Copper Wort constructed by Peter Goss picked up the most votes and he was presented with a special plaque for mounting on the layout. Old Parrock by Paul Rhodes was placed second with Sandford & Banwell by Jeff, Pete & Lynn Day placed third.

Copper Wort was also awarded the Keith Nock Memorial Trophy for the best layout in show as voted by exhibitors, trade and members.
