The 2017 exhibition was another great success with sixteen layouts attending. There were
thirteen diverse scale/gauge combinations on show including those in 0, 0-16.5, 0-14, S, P4, EM, 00-21, 00, 00-9, H0,
3mm/ft finescale, British N and 2mm/ft finescale. Once again something for everyone!
Layouts traveled from as far away as Bedfordshire, Devon, East Sussex, Hampshire, Kent, Middlesex,
Oxfordshire, Somerset, Surrey, Warwickshire, Wiltshire and Yorkshire portraying British, American, French and Irish
broad, standard and narrow gauge prototypes.
Fourteen members of the trade, including specialist manufacturers, had a presence at the show. This year we welcomed
Morris Models of Lancing who ably filled the stand vacated by The Hobby Box following the latter's closure earlier in the year. There was
a display by the model engineers from the Bentley Miniature Railway as well as popular demonstration stands manned by guests Roger Sawyer
(soldering), Cat Gibbs (figure painting) and Phil Copleston (baseboards and 2mm/ft buildings).
The show was very successful, with many comments being received as to the high quality of
the exhibits, the variety of trade goods on offer and the general friendliness of those taking part.

Throughout the weekend the visiting public was asked what layout they thought was the "Best in Show". The
7mm/ft scale 32mm & 14mm gauge (0 & 0-14) layout Denton Brook constructed by Giles Favell picked up the most
votes and he was presented with a special plaque for mounting on the layout. Arun Quay by Gordon & Maggie Gravett was the runner up.
The Keith Nock Memorial Trophy for the best layout in show as voted by exhibitors, trade and members
was awarded to the 2mm/ft finescale layout Lightermans Yard constructed by the Kent & Essex Area Group of the 2mm Scale Association.
