Uckfield Model Railway Club
The Uckfield Model Railway Club is fortunate to have exclusive use of premises within the town centre of Uckfield. The building comprises of two floors with a loft area. Free car parking is close by giving easy access on Club nights. Although groups within the Club meet on particular nights at different times of the year it is usual to find work being carried out on Monday and Thursday evenings by members of all interests. With access to the clubrooms being available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, it is common to find activity taking place at other times of the week when preparation for events such as exhibitions is required. The ground floor is where the Model Engineers meet on Thursday evenings from 8pm during the winter months for maintenance and construction of railway equipment. The area is fitted out with a solid bench with a pillar drill and grinder. There is also a large lathe and an upright milling machine for members use. There is also a small storage area. Model railway activities revolve around the first floor where the Railway Modellers meet on Monday evenings, again at 8pm. This area which has an area of approximately 31ft by 15ft is where the layouts are constructed and operated. Small work benches are available with lighting for modelling work to progress. Also on the first floor is a small room outfitted as a rest area with chairs, table and a small kitchen bench. This is where members meet and discuss topics of the day, including railways! Stairs lead up from the main 1st floor room into the roof, where there is a large boarded storage area.
