Our Clubroom in Uckfield
The Uckfield Model Railway Club is fortunate to have exclusive use of premises located
in the centre of Uckfield. The building comprises of two ground level rooms, one dedicated to modelling
activities the other forming a social area. With good amenities, lighting and carpeting the venue is focal
point for those members interested in railway modelling.
The Club normally meets every Monday evening from 7.30pm till 10pm when all of the modelling
groups work on their layouts and members bring in their latest projects for help and advice.
However with access to the Clubroom being available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, it is
common to find activity taking place at other times of the week including weekends when preparation for events
such as exhibitions is required.
Modelling activities revolve around the main front room where the layouts are constructed and operated.
The space allows for several layouts to be erected at once to be worked upon, with others stored until required for an operating
session or to be prepared for an exhibition appearance. Extensive adjustable wall shelving allows items to be stored maximising
the floor area for modelling activities.
The back room provides a social area where members meet and discuss topics of the day, including
railways! The Club's library of prototype and modelling books/publications is also located here as is a table for
small scale modelling. Catering facilities are here with the all important urn for coffee and tea.
The Clubroom has mains electricity, water and a toilet.
