Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Outbreak
Following the relaxation of restrictions, we have resumed face to face club activities at the clubrooms. Layout teams
are meeting at different times/evenings throughout the week to reduce numbers. We are still continuing with our Monday evening online Skype
meetings to discuss modelling projects and topics of the day!
The Uckfield Model Railway Club caters for those who have an interest in modelling railways
in the smaller scales (eg 2mm/ft, 4mm/ft, 7mm/ft etc). Currently the Club has layouts in 0 and 00 on the exhibition
circuit, with two further layouts in P4 and N under construction.
Club modelling activities revolve around Monday meetings at our
Clubroom in the centre of Uckfield, East Sussex. At these meetings work continues on new
and existing Club layouts. Every so often running nights are held so that members and visitors can run their stock. Lectures
and demonstrations on model railway construction techniques are also occasionally held.
The Club is active in the model railway exhibition scene, both with Club and Member's layouts. Trips
are also arranged to exhibitions outside of the local area. The Club organises its own annual Model Railway Exhibition
in the local Civic Centre which has gained a reputation for one of the best club shows in the south-east of England. Following
our very successful 2021 show, the next exhibition will be held on the 15th & 16th October 2022 in the Uckfield Civic Centre.
Click here for more information regarding the show.
The Club has a community outreach project actively supporting students from the Uckfield College Model Railway Club. We help and sponsor layout
construction and our members give their time to assist the young people at their weekly school club sessions and when
they take their layout(s) to exhibitions and other events.
Social meetings are held on an occasional basis for film shows etc., at the Clubroom and other venues.
A more formal dinner is organised for all our members and their partners on the Saturday evening of our model railway exhibition
to which guest exhibitors are also invited.
The Club publishes an electronic newsletter several times a year, giving advance notice of forthcoming events and activities.
