Uckfield Model Railway Club
Other Layout Projects
As well as Club and Members Layouts which can be seen on the Exhibition circuit, we have
several layouts which are "under construction" at the Clubrooms in Uckfield. Details of
these appear below.
Netherhall and Fletching
The Polo Mint
Bentley in Miniature
Netherhall and Fletching
Our new '00' Southern Region layout
 |
Netherhall and
Fletching is the representation of a station which might have been built between Uckfield
and Sheffield Park if the since abandoned Ouse Valley railway was fully completed. Situated
between Newick to the south-west and Fletching to the north-east, close to Nether Hall Farm,
the station has passenger and freight facilities, but no locomotive shed, this being a through
station.
The layout is of the fiddle yard to fiddle yard design with a scenic section
measuring 10ft 6in x 2ft.

The Polo Mint
A circular test track for Clubroom use
 |
This layout has been
recently constructed in the Clubroom in order that members can run their stock whilst
construction progresses on the scenic layouts.
The layout is circular, with a hole in the middle, and features tracks to 'N', 'TT',
'OO', 'EM' and 'P4' standards.
All the circuits have seperate electrical connections and become 'live' when a hand held
controller is plugged into the appropriate connector.

Bentley in Miniature
A model based on the Bentley Miniature Railway
 |
This layout has been constructed in the clubrooms by a couple of members in order
to publicise the Club and in particular the Bentley Miniature Railway.
The trackplan is based on the miniature railway and has been laid to 9mm gauge using
Peco narrow gauge track and points.
At the moment the available stock is H0e. In the main this comes from the Jouef range
of 25 years ago which has been liberated from a member's loft for the layout!
|
|
Construction was rapid, with scenery and buildings being found and constructed from
items found in the clubrooms. Various features of the real miniature railway have
been reproduced in their correct positions. The simple electrics are complete, but
a few changes will be made in the future to allow more functionality.
The layout made its public debut at the Uckfield Festival on the 12th August 2000
on Luxford Field, where it attracted much interest helping to advertise the Club's
activities.
